Prince Harry and Prince William are estranged, and the brothers have reportedly not seen each other in years. With Prince Harry now living on British soil again, royal fans and experts are wondering if the pair have any plans to reunite, looking back on when the two last saw each other.
Last Public Appearance Together
According to Hello! Magazine, Prince William and Prince Harry were last seen together publicly at their father's coronation in May 2023. The brothers took part in the same procession, but they were not seated together inside Westminster Abbey. Prince Harry was seated two rows behind his brother, alongside his cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Reports say the brothers did not make eye contact or speak during the televised service. Prince Harry then left the UK almost immediately afterwards to return to California, where he was living at the time, for Prince Archie's birthday.
Private Reunion in 2024
While this moment was the last time they were seen together publicly, the two were in the same room the next year in 2024. The brothers reunited privately at their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes' funeral in Norfolk in August 2024.
Both Harry and William attended the funeral service, but there are no photographs of the event. They reportedly did not speak or sit next to one another, Hello! Magazine reports.
Reasons Behind the Rift
The brothers began to experience issues when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle began dating, with Prince William reportedly concerned about the speed at which their relationship was progressing.
In 2018, Prince William reportedly advised Harry not to rush into the relationship, causing Harry to accuse his brother of trying to wreck the romance, reports The Sun. The next year, tensions rose during an alleged confrontation at Kensington Palace.
By 2020, the Sussexes stepped back from their royal roles and moved to the USA, where they lived for six years. Then, in 2021, the couple took part in an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they made more allegations against the Royal Family. In 2022, the couple's Netflix docuseries was released, which criticised palace operations.
Prince Harry released his memoir, Spare, in 2023, which further damaged their relationship due to Harry's allegations about the Royal Family in the book.
