Garter Day 2026: King Leads Windsor Procession, Andrew Absent

Today marks Garter Day 2026, where members of the Royal Family take part in the annual procession at Windsor Castle. The King and Queen, along with other senior royals, attend a service at St George's Chapel to celebrate the occasion.

Procession and Service Details

The annual fixture in the royal calendar sees the Knights of the Order of the Garter participate in a procession wearing their elaborate velvet robes and plumed hats ahead of a service at St George's Chapel. Earlier on Monday, the King invested three new companions with the Order's Insignia in the Throne Room, followed by a private lunch. They then join the grand procession, accompanied by a marching band and Officers of the Order. After the service, members of the Royal Family travel back to the Castle in carriages.
