Christine McGuinness has admitted that it will be 'strange' when she and ex-husband Paddy McGuinness eventually live apart. The 38-year-old model and the 53-year-old Take Me Out host separated in 2022 after 11 years of marriage, but have continued living together in their Cheshire home for the sake of their three children, Penelope, Felicity and Leo.
Living Arrangements Revealed
During an appearance on the Unfiltered with Lucy Kennedy podcast, Christine shed light on their current living situation. In a snippet of the interview, which airs in full tomorrow, she said: "We were married for a long time, I'm very very fortunate that we do still get on. I can't get rid of him!"
When asked if her house was 'massive', she conceded: "It is. We have separate wings, we are very fortunate, we have our own space. Even still, I don't know anybody that would be so comfortable living with their ex. He's been a huge part of my life, I met him at 19 [which is] 19 years ago. Half of my life. I suppose it will be strange living without him one day."
Why the Arrangement Works
Christine explained that the arrangement has worked well over the past three years. "But right now, the last three years, we've been separated, and it just works, we've got our own space, our own thing, we get on really well, and we love our children. It probably works because we're not married."
Christine and Paddy met at an event in 2007, introduced by a mutual friend. They married in 2011, welcomed twins Penelope and Leo in 2013, and added Felicity in 2016. They announced their separation in a statement in 2022 but vowed to remain close for their children.
Since the split, they have continued living in their Cheshire home, with reports suggesting Paddy mainly stays on the top floor while Christine resides on the bottom. Christine previously described the arrangement as a 'blessing', telling the Daily Mail: "Our lives outside are outside for both of us. We have personal lives outside of the house, but we don't [bring dates home]. I would never do that, this is the family home. And we never did have many visitors to the house, even when we were married, because the children would find it unsettling."
She added: "We share the same family home and we share our holidays sometimes. We're more than happy to do family holidays together with my mum, with mummy and daddy there. And we will do. I'm really looking forward to it, to be honest."
