Big Brother host Will Best has sided with fans who say the live eviction interviews are far too brief. Last night, Chelsey Ammari became the second housemate to leave the house, following clashes with celebrity guests Jedward and other popular housemates that drew criticism from viewers.
The social worker faced Pauline Adeyemo in the vote, but stood little chance against the carer, who is widely considered a front-runner to win the series.
Will Best: 'Those interviews are so short'
Despite Will promising to 'dig deep on all the drama' inside the house, he and AJ Odudu had limited time to cover everything after the axing of Big Brother: Late and Live, which previously gave evicted housemates a thorough grilling.
Speaking to followers on Instagram Live after the show, Will – who is expecting his first child with partner Tobi Rose – acknowledged the complaints. 'Those interviews are so short,' he said. 'We had seven minutes with her – that's mad. So I do miss Late and Live.'
Viewers described the interview as 'an absolute disaster', with Chelsey being questioned outside amid loud and rowdy fans booing throughout.
One viewer fumed: 'Give them their late and live and good interview without a crowd thats interupting. (even the chelsey backing down on joanne and the crowd coming up for her was good ngl).'
'The fact the evictee has had a crap interview (due to it being outside) and thats it for the night is crazy…,' said another, followed by: 'This is an absolute disaster of an interview. This wouldn't happen if we still had late & live.'
Fans suggest Group Chat spin-off
Some suggested the evicted housemate should go straight into an interview with GK Barry and Big Brother series three winner Kate Lawler, who host the new spin-off series The Group Chat.
'Why not have The Group Chat interview the evictee? Im LOVING Kate Lawler AND we'd get a decent interview WITHOUT that screamin bunch of desperados in late & live,' they said.
However, plenty of fans enjoyed the chaos. 'Am I the only one who enjoyed the outdoor interview? We don't get late and live I need to inject any bit of chaos I can,' another audience member wrote on X, while many more agreed.
Someone else tweeted: 'I'll be honest I think I've watched BB evictions on auto pilot in recent years out of the love i used to have for the show when it was at its best. Tonight was the first time I was interested in the eviction interview and it felt like event tv again. This series is great!'
Will's verdict on Late and Live return
When asked if Late and Live should return for one night a week on Fridays, Will said: 'That is not a bad shout.' However, he explained that without the viewing figures, it is unlikely to happen.
'The reality is, the live streaming, Late and Live, in the world we live in now it's really expensive,' he said. 'Telly has changed, it's sad.'
'Late and Live was such a fun show but it was a live audience, massive crew, huge production team, it was on at 10pm on a Wednesday night and we'd get a couple of hundreds though viewers, it didn't make sense to keep it going.'
He added: 'I do also want the live stream, I want the live series back – for this series especially.'
This series has been the most celebrated by fans since the show's resurrection on ITV. Streaming numbers are up 32% compared to 2025, while social clips are reaching the tens of millions.
Big Brother returns Sunday at 9pm on ITV2.
