Former Gladiators star Warren Furman has admitted he was 'horrible' to his ex-fiancée Katie Price during their relationship in the late 1990s. The pair were engaged for two years from 1997, when Price was known as model Jordan.
Speaking to The Sun, Furman expressed remorse for his past behaviour, saying: 'It was selfish. It’s not the way I think now. I have great admiration for her.' The couple split after Price was accused of having an affair with Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher.
Furman, who played Ace on the ITV show Gladiators, revealed that he and Price would sell stories about each other at the time. He has since apologised to her parents, stating: 'I just want you to know I am sorry for my part in it. I hope you will forgive me.'
After Gladiators was axed in 2000, Furman struggled with his identity before moving to York, where he met his wife Dionne. The couple have two children and Furman later turned to the Church of England, training as a vicar during lockdown. He is set to be ordained later this year alongside his wife.
Gladiators is set to return on BBC One on January 13, hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney. Furman welcomed the revival, saying: 'It’s great news. As a nation we need a wholesome family show again.'
