BBC Traitors fans were treated to a revelation during the opening episode of season four on Thursday (January 1) when contestant Roxy accidentally let slip that she and fellow contestant Judy are mother and daughter. The pair had vowed to keep their family ties secret to avoid being targeted as an alliance, but Roxy's competitive nature got the better of her during the first task.
As the contestants rowed boats to collect coffins, Roxy shouted: "Stop, mum! Stop, stop, stop, stop guys." The slip went unnoticed by her co-stars but eagle-eyed viewers at home quickly picked up on it. Taking to X, one user wrote: "Not very secret family connections if the daughter calls out 'Stop mum!' on the boats. No one else seemed to have noticed this?!"
Judy and Roxy had decided to keep their relationship hidden to avoid accusations of forming an alliance. Roxy explained away from the group: "We're keeping it a secret just because I think if you come as a pair, it's almost like an alliance. I feel so protective over her." Judy revealed she adopted Roxy when she was five, calling it "the best thing I ever did."
Despite the on-air slip, none of the other contestants have yet realised the pair are related. However, with such a clear mistake, they will need to be far more careful if they hope to maintain their secret throughout the series.
