A contestant from The Traitors has proposed a revolutionary twist to BBC executives. Charlotte Berman featured in series three of the civilian edition alongside popular contestants Alexander Dragonetti, Francesca Rowan-Plowden and Freddie Fraser. That series was eventually won by Faithfuls Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown.
During the programme, Charlotte adopted a Welsh accent and informed her fellow contestants she hailed from Abergavenny. This was entirely fabricated. While viewers were ultimately made aware of the deception, her co-stars only discovered the truth upon leaving the show as she never disclosed it during the main series.
Accent strategy explained
The London native has subsequently explained the decision to present herself as Welsh stemmed from believing it was a "trustworthy" accent, while her mother also originated from the nation, though it ultimately failed to prevent her banishment.
Deception has been a frequent strategy employed by previous contestants on the BBC game show, with falsehoods spanning from concealing their genuine occupations to hiding connections with fellow participants.
Twist pitched to producers
With The Celebrity Traitors returning to television screens for a second series tomorrow evening (October 1), Charlotte, speaking exclusively on behalf of Buzz Bingo, disclosed a significant twist she hopes to witness - and she has already presented it to decision-makers.
"I have what I think is the master idea which I need to be implemented. I've mentioned this when I've seen and spoken to some of the executive producers," she began.
She wants to see identical twins play the same person on the show. "It's to have identical twins. I think it would be so funny, so unnecessary, but put a pair of identical twins in there and have them play as the same person. I don't know if they would be allowed a debrief; I can't tell you what the construct would be. For the viewer, that would be so funny. If that happens, you heard it here first."
No regrets over accent
Regarding her Welsh accent, Charlotte maintains she has "no regrets" about attempting it. She continued: "I feel very lucky to have been such a memorable part of my series. It was a lot of fun, and I think it was very much in the spirit of The Traitors and the kind of camp, pantomime style of this backstabbing parlour game that we're all playing."
Traitors enthusiasts won't need to wait much longer for their next dose of banishments and betrayal, as The Celebrity Traitors series two launches tomorrow evening at 8pm. Viewers can tune in on BBC One or access it through BBC iPlayer.
