The fourth episode of Traitors season four delivered dramatic revelations, including the unmasking of the Secret Traitor. The mastermind, previously operating above the usual Traitors, was revealed to be Fiona, who had been posing as a barely sentient pensioner. Upon her unveiling to fellow Traitors Rachel and Stephen, she cackled and declared herself a masterful actor, stating, 'The devil himself couldn’t have cast a net and landed three better Traitors.' In a later interview, she admitted to loving 'a white lie' and being skilled at embellishing stories.
The revelation followed a task where Stephen and Rachel marked a family tree illustration with red paint, identifying nine contestants marked for murder. No murder occurred that night, but at breakfast, host Claudia announced the nine and a surprise banishment at the round table. Contestants failed to deduce who had been near the family tree, despite Stephen naming Maz as the last person seen there. Reece notably forgot he had been standing with Stephen and Rachel by the picture before they sent him away for a private chat.
Ross was eventually banished, despite correctly claiming he was being framed by Stephen. After his exit, Ellie revealed she was dating Ross, adding another hidden relationship to the show, following the earlier disclosure that banished Judy was Roxy’s mother. This has sparked a family tree theory among viewers, suggesting more secret connections among contestants, such as Reece potentially dating Stephen, or other undisclosed links between Maz and Faraaz, Jessie and James, or Adam and Amanda.
The episode also featured a task where nine targeted contestants were locked in cages, and others had to collect and stack ten animal skulls to save six of them. Fiona, tasked with collecting skulls for Reece, took an unusually long time, returning empty-handed after half an hour. Meanwhile, James, upon being released, shouted 'Yabba-dabba-doo!' Other highlights included Jessie's candid remark after the banishment, and Maz revealing he was a retired police officer.
