Strictly Come Dancing fans have erupted in anger following Sunday night's results show, which many are calling the 'worst ever' after popular contestant Vicky Pattison was unexpectedly eliminated from the competition.
Controversial Dance-Off Decision
The former I'm A Celebrity star became the seventh celebrity to leave the BBC dance competition after judges chose to save Balvinder Sopal in the dance-off, marking the fourth time Balvinder has found herself in the bottom two. Vicky and her professional partner Kai Widdrington had landed in the danger zone after receiving the fewest public votes, alongside Balvinder and her partner Julian Caillon.
Vicky and Kai performed their Jive to Girls Aloud's 'Sound of the Underground' in a last-ditch effort to save their place in the competition, but it wasn't enough to convince the judges to keep them in the running for the Glitterball Trophy.
Fan Outrage and Social Media Reaction
Viewers took to social media platforms to express their disappointment and frustration at the outcome. One devastated fan wrote: "Slightly distraught with the result because you were a definite potential winner and a firm favourite of mine, but I hope you're extremely proud of yourself VickyPattison, because you've done so amazing!!! We're all proud of you lass!!"
Another supporter commented: "Gutted! She had a bad week!!", while a third expressed broader concerns about the voting pattern: "Stop voting out celebs who are improving each week! Whilst keeping in two trained dancers who dance well each week and two dancers who aren't improving."
Many fans highlighted what Vicky represented to them, with one explaining: "Vicky Pattison was what #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing is all about for me. She came into the show with ZERO experience formed a friendship for life with her dance partner Kai Widdrington and slowly flourished into a confident dancer. She created MAGIC on that dancefloor".
Emotional Farewell and Partner's Tribute
Following the announcement of her elimination, Vicky gave an emotional speech, stating: "It was so lovely while it lasted, and I've had the nicest time. I knew this week was a difficult one for me, and I tried my hardest as I have every week."
She reflected on her unexpected journey in the competition: "Listen, I didn't think I'd get past week one. And I'm really honoured to have shared this experience with so many amazing people. Mostly with this fella [Kai] right here."
In a heartfelt moment directed at her professional partner, she added: "I don't want to sound too cheesy but [to Kai] you've been the best partner a girl can ask for. I'm so sorry I didn't get you to Blackpool but I feel like I've won just by having you as my partner."
The reality star also acknowledged her personal challenges, emotionally admitting: "I'll miss everybody. I enjoyed it loads more than I thought I was going to. And I know I let my nerves get in the way – Shirley, you are right - and I will proper beat myself up over that. But I've never danced before sober and here I am – sober as a judge!"
Kai responded with his own touching tribute to his celebrity partner: "Oh, goodness me. Where do I start? You [to Vicky] are everything that this series is about. Strong, confident, independent - and all that I can say is, I have loved every single second. I'm going to be gutted not coming to Blackpool with you on Monday."
He concluded with warm praise: "But I just want you to know that I feel like I have also won getting you as my partner, and you will live on in Strictly history forever."
The elimination has sparked widespread discussion among the Strictly fanbase about the judging decisions and voting system, with many questioning whether the right couple was saved in Sunday night's dramatic results show.
