A throwback clip of Sharon Osbourne fiercely defending her late husband Ozzy has resurfaced following the rock icon's death. The footage, from the 2008 VH1 series Rock of Love: Charm School, shows the 72-year-old TV personality confronting contestant Megan Hauserman after she insulted Ozzy.
In the clip, Hauserman, then a model and actress, said: “The only thing you’ve managed to do as a celebrity is to watch your husband’s brain turn into a vegetable.” Sharon responded by telling the audience she felt sorry for the contestant, before standing up, taking a sip from her cup, and throwing the rest of the drink in Hauserman’s face. Security intervened as tensions escalated.
After the showdown, Hauserman sued Sharon for battery and distress; Sharon countersued, arguing Hauserman had assumed the risk and broken their TV agreement. The case was quietly settled in 2011 for an undisclosed six-figure sum. Hauserman, now 43, later starred in the short-lived dating show Megan Wants a Millionaire, which was axed after three episodes.
Social media users have praised Sharon's loyalty, with one writing: “The way she loved Ozzy is something not common... She really, REALLY loved her husband.” Another posted: “Ozzy was so blessed to have someone as loving as she was.” A third commented: “Ozzy was the king of metal, but she was the queen. Never attack royalty.”
Sharon expressed her heartbreak at Ozzy's passing in a family statement, saying: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.” Ozzy died on Tuesday following a battle with Parkinson's disease.
