Rylan Clark's Dating Naked series is reportedly facing the axe. The former X Factor contestant, 37, has headed up the UK edition of the reality show on Paramount+ since 2024, and has so far seen two groups of singletons live completely nude on an island in the hopes of finding love.
Nothing is censored on the series, and now insiders have claimed that due to an apparent lack of applications, bosses could be forced to pull the plug on the programme entirely.
Insider Claims
A source said: "Executives are in a flap because the show can’t go ahead if they don’t have enough participants, and even if they scrape through this season, it doesn’t bode well for future commissions."
"Although they managed to get enough people for the first two series, it’s proving very difficult for the third as it is quite an exposing programme. It’s not just a question of baring their souls, it’s about baring everything else."
Comparison with US and German Versions
Speaking to The Sun, the source added: "Perhaps it might be because we Brits are a little more modest than our counterparts. There is a US and a German version of the show and they never seem to have these problems. To be fair, the American Dating Naked pixelates the private parts of the contestants, but there’s no such luck on the UK version."
Previous Winners and Filming Delays
At the end of the last series, Lauren Louise and Rico Hammett emerged victorious from the programme and were awarded the cash prize of £50,000.
The programme has normally been filmed at the height of summer in Colombia but now, according to the outlet, filming has been pushed back to September as executives work out what to do.
Rylan's Comments on the Show
When the second series was about to air, Rylan announced that things were going to be "taken up a notch" on the show. Rylan commented: "Dating Naked is back! This time you know what you're signing up for, or at least you think you do. This year we're taking it up a notch, working even harder to help our brilliant cast find their perfect match and battle it out for a £50,000 prize pot. I can't wait for you to meet our brand new daters, and maybe a familiar face or two."
In a trailer released at the time, contestants could be heard exclaiming "this is crazy" as a cautionary note is given to viewers, with a voiceover cautioning: "Be warned; the nudity in this show is completely uncensored."
At the time, Paramount+ said: "The UK's most drawer-dropping dating show is back! Guided by host Rylan, ten new singles are ready to shed their inhibitions and their clothes, in their search for true love."
