Ryan Thomas: separate beds with Lucy, Adam stunned

Ryan Thomas has revealed that he and fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh sleep in separate beds at their Manchester home, a confession that left his brother Adam visibly shocked on their podcast.

On the latest episode of At Home With The Thomas Bros, the former Coronation Street actor opened up about the couple's sleeping arrangements, explaining that they also have separate living rooms in their main residence.

Separate beds and living rooms

“In Manchester, we stay in separate beds and we have separate living rooms,” Ryan said. Adam replied: “Which I think is f***ed up personally as well. You need to stay in the same bed as her.”

Ryan went on to explain that their London home lacks enough rooms, while their Manchester house has two bedrooms and two living rooms. He joked about their differing TV tastes, saying: “Two living rooms. We watch telly separately. We don’t really like each other… I try and spend as little time with Lucy as possible. She likes to watch these American TV series and I like to watch crime.”

Humorous take on married life

Ryan, who met Lucy on Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls in 2017, shared a humorous anecdote about trying to initiate romance. “I go into the living room feeling a little frisky. I stand over her growling like a little puppy dog. I started stroking her and she just looked at me like ‘what are you doing’.”

He added: “She’s like Ryan ‘can you at least sit in the same room as me and watch a series with me’. I’m like ‘I don’t really want to watch the series with you, you know exactly what I want and I’m here’.”

Family life and rules

The couple, who got engaged in Positano, Italy in 2019, share two children: Roman, six, and Lilah, four. Ryan also has a teenage daughter, Scarlett, with his ex Tina O'Brien.

When asked by brother Scott if he thought it was normal to spend so much time apart, Ryan said: “I don’t know, but it is in my house. What is normal? Who's got the rulebook of what you’re supposed to do? It’s my house, my rules and that’s how it is. Well it’s Lucy’s rules actually.”
