Harry Redknapp made an unprecedented blunder during the latest episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! when he accidentally said the wrong name while evicting a campmate. The former football manager, tasked with sending home one of his Team Lion members after losing the Beastly Braai eating trial, fumbled the announcement in a moment of panic.
According to a source, “Harry has had a long day with the trial and has a lot on his mind. The team know who he means but he actually says the wrong name when evicting one of his team. It doesn’t affect the decision but it certainly adds to the drama of the moment because it is so unusual.” This marks the first time in the show's history that a contestant, rather than hosts Ant and Dec, has made such an error during an eviction.
The blunder came after Redknapp faced off against Jimmy Bullard in the eating trial, where they consumed boar’s penis, lamb brain, intestines, and worms. Bullard's victory in the tie-breaker earned his Team Rhino a banquet and a safari, while Redknapp was instructed by Ant and Dec to eliminate one of his own team members. Dec told him: “As king of losing camp, it is time for someone to leave and you will choose who that will be.”
Team Lion includes Redknapp, boxer David Haye, TV star Scarlett Moffatt, comedian Seann Walsh, and Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts. The eviction episode airs tonight on ITV and ITVX at 9pm, with the identity of the evictee revealed at the start. The show will continue with rapid evictions leading up to the final on Friday, April 24, where viewers will crown a jungle 'Legend'.
