The Great American Baking Show, the US version of The Great British Bake Off, has been reportedly cancelled after four seasons. The programme, which aired on Roku, featured Paul Hollywood as a judge alongside Prue Leith.

Show Axed After Four Seasons

Broadcast has reported that the programme has now been cancelled. Roku had been airing the cooking show, with Paul's Bake Off co-star Prue Leith as his fellow judge. Both Roku and Love Productions have been approached for comment.

History of the US Show

Paul made his name in the tent on the UK series, which he joined as a judge in 2010, the year it began. In 2017, he signed up to critique buns and biscuits for the third series of the US show, which was airing on ABC at the time. Prue then joined him in the sixth series of the programme.

The series launched on ABC in 2015 before transferring to Roku in 2022. It has seen several judges over the years, with original Bake Off star Mary Berry doing a stint, and chefs Sherry Yard and Johnny Iuzzini also judging. The programme is now hosted by Casey Wilson and Andrew Rannells, but other presenters have included Spice Girl Emma Bunton and My Big Fat Greek Wedding actress Nia Vardalos.

Changes Ahead

The show had apparently been set for a change anyway, as Prue announced earlier this year that she was stepping down from Bake Off in the UK. She explained to fans on Instagram that while it had been a "fabulous part" of her life, at 86-years-old, it felt "like the right time to step back". Nigella Lawson is set to take over her role in the tent in the UK series.

"I'm uncharacteristically rather lost for words right now," Nigella said as the news was announced. "Of course it's daunting to be following in the footsteps of Prue Leith and Mary Berry before her, great dames both, but I'm also bubbling with excitement." The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK.
