The fallout from a Married at First Sight UK marriage continues, as contestant Keye Luke has appeared to aim a pointed remark at his ex-husband Davide Anica's new relationship. The pair, both 33, met and married on the E4 show in 2023 but split in November after a betrayal of trust.
The Instagram Swipe and the New Romance
Last week, Davide, a cabin crew member, appeared to 'soft launch' a new boyfriend in a video from the Titanic Spa in Huddersfield. The clip ended with a cosy moment of the pair together in a jacuzzi, captioned 'Fall in love again & again'. Davide described the spa trip as a chance to 'reboot' after a challenging year.
In response, marketing manager Keye took to his own Instagram Story to share a lengthy quote about breakups. The post suggested that 'the person who moves on first after a break-up often initiated the split or emotionally disengaged earlier', using new partners as a distraction. It added that this behaviour could 'mask deeper issues' rather than indicate they are truly over the relationship.
The Grindr Confession That Ended the Marriage
This public exchange follows Keye's candid confession last month about the real reason for their split. He revealed that he had downloaded the dating app Grindr while Davide was away on a flight. Keye insisted he was not looking to cheat or meet someone, but was in a 'dark and fragile place' and seeking an unhealthy coping mechanism.
'When Davide found my profile through his, it cost me my marriage,' Keye wrote. He took full accountability for breaking the trust, stating it was something he carries 'every day'. He expressed devastation at hurting Davide, whom he said 'deserves the absolute best'.
Davide's Discovery and Moving Forward
In a statement to The Sun in November, Davide confirmed he had a 'gut feeling' something was wrong. He created his own Grindr profile to check and was devastated to find Keye active on the app. 'That moment was painful and it made the trust between us break in a way I couldn’t move past,' he said. While deeply hurt, Davide stated he has since healed and found peace, holding no bitterness towards Keye.
Both men have emphasised their time on the show was real. Keye has since been attending therapy to address his coping mechanisms, while Davide is now embracing a new chapter, as hinted at in his recent spa video.
