Married At First Sight Drama Escalates as Secret Texts Are Exposed
The vile secret text messages that bride Bec Zacharia wrote about fellow contestant Alissa Fay were finally exposed during Monday's episode of Married At First Sight. The drama had been simmering since Sunday night's commitment ceremony, where the offending messages were nearly shared with the couples and experts, threatening to explode the tension.
Juliette Chae's Threat and the Message Revelation
Juliette Chae, who received the incriminating group chat exchange from Gia Fleur, had threatened to share the messages in an attempt to expose Bec. Although the texts did not see the light of day during the ceremony, Juliette threw a final cat among the pigeons by sending them directly to Alissa before her shock exit from the show.
The episode featured a shocked Alissa and her groom David Momoh lying in bed, reacting to Bec's vile invective. Alissa expressed her disgust, stating, 'I can tell you right now, that what I just read was f***ing disgusting.' She added, 'I'm actually pretty dumbfounded. I thought there were going to be some nasty messages but not that sort of language.'
Reading the Offensive Messages Aloud
Before proceeding to read the messages aloud to David, Alissa acknowledged why Gia felt compelled to send them to Juliette. 'I can understand why Gia felt the need to tell me why she sent these messages to Juliette because I didn't realise how bad they were,' she said.
As the offending messages were displayed on screen, Alissa read them to a clearly disgusted David. One message from Bec stated, 'Alissa is going f***ing down – rat b***h with her rat husband.' Another suggested that Alissa and David's relationship was 'fake', with Bec writing, 'I'm gonna go so f***ing hard on Alissa and her fake relationship.'
Bec's unhinged rant continued, using derogatory language to describe Alissa, similar to criticism Juliette herself faced during the couple's retreat. A further message read, 'You know what? Alissa probably isn't a bad girl, but her head is so far up her f***ing a***hole she doesn't even realise what a c***t she actually is.' David tried to process the harsh words as Alissa revealed another insult: 'The only fake f***s in this place are those two a*** licking influencer wannabe c***s.'
Couple Swap and Confrontation
When it came time for the couple swap, Alissa asked David not to mention the texts if he was paired with Bec, as she wanted a chance to confront her directly. Unluckily for David, he was paired with Bec, who immediately brought up the issue after sitting down.
While Bec claimed to take 'full accountability and responsibility' for the messages, she attempted to minimise their severity by blaming Gia for sending them. David expressed his shock to producers, saying, 'Bec is trying to make herself look like a victim. Am I in sleep paralysis right now?'
He managed to hold his tongue until Bec claimed that she wasn't rude toward Alissa in the messages. 'In those text messages, I wasn't rude about you, I wasn't rude about Alissa. I was just talking about your relationship,' Bec asserted.
David's Stand and Bec's Reaction
Wanting to stand up for Alissa, David then told Bec that the couple had seen her messages, causing Bec's jaw to almost hit the floor. He stated, 'I just want you to know we felt the comments were vile, disgusting and very mean and vicious.' When Bec panicked and asked, 'How do you know what they were?' David flatly replied, 'We've seen them.'
David continued, 'At the end of the day those were very, very vile comments and I don't know how you had it in you. You can see for us now it looks like you're manipulating the situation to make yourself look like the victim.'
Bec then broke down in front of David, apologising for her actions, but it seemed these may have been crocodile tears. Speaking to producers afterward, she doubled down on her assertion that Gia was the real villain in the scenario. 'What was the point in sending those messages? Why are you doing that?' she asked. 'You want me to be in trouble? I kind of feel sorry for myself because it's all coming down on me. It's just tiresome.'
Married At First Sight continues Tuesday at 7.30pm on Nine, promising more drama and revelations.
