Love Island star Dejon Noel-Williams has spoken out about the backlash he faced after leaving the ITV2 villa, addressing accusations of being a 'narcissist' and admitting he could have handled situations better.
The 26-year-old personal trainer received a wave of hateful messages on social media, including death threats and racist comments, prompting him and girlfriend Meg to disable comments on their accounts. A family member also criticised him on TikTok, branding him 'manipulative'.
In his first interview since the show, Dejon told the Daily Mail: 'I was in a bubble with no phone... my phone was flooded with backlash and hateful messages. It got so bad that me and Meg have both decided to turn the comments off.'
Dejon acknowledged his mistakes, saying: 'I do take full accountability for how I communicated at times in the villa. I could have handled situations better.' However, he rejected the 'narcissist' label, noting that fellow islanders who spent 24 hours a day with him do not see him that way.
He also expressed regret over flirting with other women, but explained that the show is edited for entertainment. Despite the criticism, Dejon and Meg left the villa as a couple and are now in a relationship.
