This year's Love Island champions have been dealt a crushing blow just hours after clinching their title. Lorenzo Alessi and Julia Majchrzak emerged triumphant in the live final of ITV's reality dating show, which aired on Monday night (July 27). They won the public vote, with Jasmine Muller and Kavan Murphy finishing second, while Angelista Gunda and Simba Kudyiwa took third place.
Yasmin Hadlow and Tommy Stagg narrowly missed out on a spot in the final. They were sent packing the day before in a brutal first-time twist that saw ousted stars Mica Harris and Samraj Toor forced to choose another couple to join them in leaving the villa.
Julia and Lorenzo ultimately walked away with the crown and a £50,000 prize. Straight after the win, Julia even hinted that they plan to move in together soon.
Expert Ranks Couples
However, a relationship expert has now suggested that the duo are the least likely among this year's finalists to make it work outside the villa. Louella Alderson, who is also the co-founder of dating tool So Synced, has partnered with Kitty Bingo to compile her unique rankings.
Explaining why the winners rank last despite being overwhelming favourites for the title, she said: "Lorenzo comes across as a great guy. He's loyal, caring and generally kind, but I'm not convinced he's deeply invested in the relationship. He's never had a girlfriend, has treated much of the Love Island experience like a holiday and may have some fear around commitment."
They went on: "Julia is more outspoken and divisive, while Lorenzo seems less comfortable with confrontation or strong opinions. Their connection feels fun and easy, but not particularly deep or serious. Once the structure and momentum of the villa disappear, Lorenzo may find it difficult to sustain a level of commitment he never seemed fully ready for."
Other Couples Ranked Higher
Louella reckons Jasmine and Kavan stand a stronger chance of making it work beyond the villa. This is seemingly down to the fact that "Jas and Kavan have already faced a few real tests in the villa and seem to have come through it stronger and more secure as a couple. They both seem willing to understand each other rather than assume their differences will become a problem." Nevertheless, they note that Kavan would need to avoid being so readily swayed by relatives such as his brother Aidan.
Meanwhile, Louella suggests that Simba must back up his public declaration in the villa for Angelista with "a more private, personal gesture". They reckon this would appear more authentic and position them better for life in the real world.
Non-Finalists Most Likely to Last
Fascinatingly, Louella maintains that the pair most likely to go the distance is one who didn't even reach the final. They brand Yasmin and Tommy as the most suited out of all of them with the greatest prospects of surviving outside the villa.
They said: "They flirt naturally, are tactile and seem genuinely comfortable around each other. Yasmin is patient, understanding and emotionally steady, which means she tends to handle difficult situations calmly rather than reacting impulsively."
"The revelations about Tommy's ex are concerning, but the bigger issue is the lack of honesty rather than the situationship itself. If Yasmin feels able to forgive him and trust that he is being truthful moving forward, their connection appears strong enough to give the relationship a real chance."
"Their steady, grounded dynamic also means they could be better equipped than the other couples to handle the shift from the intensity and constant proximity of the villa to everyday life outside it. They could win where it really matters... building a relationship that lasts beyond the villa."
