Love Island fans are in for a treat of cringeworthy television as Joey Essex takes to the stage with a self-penned rap during the villa's talent show. The challenge, a fan favourite, returns tonight (Tuesday July 23) with a lineup of performances that promise to rival past classics like Millie Court's keyboard and Indiyah Polack's recorder.
The islanders received a text summoning them to 'The Love Talent Show', prompting Joey to exclaim, "This is our time to shine!" Nicole kicked off the evening with a sexy dance, leaving boyfriend Ciaran with his 'jaw on the floor'. Reuben followed with a rendition of 'Singing in the Rain', accompanied by whistling and a charming tribute to Grace as his 'lovely lamppost of a lady'.
Matilda showcased a quirky foot puppet show retelling her romance with Sean, while Grace led a yoga class, Josh demonstrated pancake and waffle making, and Ayo played 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' on the flute. Ciaran displayed rugby moves, Jess taught art, and Sean transformed into the Candyman to distribute sweets. Jessy performed on stilts, and Mimii belted out 'A Thousand Miles'. However, it was Joey's rap that stole the show for its sheer awkwardness, leaving viewers divided.
The islanders will vote for their favourite performance, determining the winner of Love Island 2024's talent show.
