The tenth series of Love Is Blind has left viewers puzzled after one couple, Christine and Vic, did not join the other engaged pairs on the group honeymoon in Cabo, Mexico. Instead, the pair were seen enjoying a private getaway in Malibu, California.
Viewers took to social media to question why the couple were separated from the rest. On Reddit, one fan wrote: “Why did one couple go to Malibu but the rest to Cabo?” Another speculated: “They usually do that when more couples get engaged than they had planned.”
Show creator Chris Coelen has now clarified the reason. Speaking to Tudum, he explained that production resources are limited and cannot accommodate more than six couples in Mexico. This season, producers felt so strongly about the couples that they chose to follow seven for the first time, making it the biggest season in the show’s history.
“We had to offer one couple the chance to go to Malibu on their own getaway,” Coelen said. He added that Christine and Vic had fewer overlapping connections with the other couples, making them ideal candidates for the separate trip. The romantic getaways are also an opportunity for couples to address any outstanding feelings with others they dated in the pods.
Coelen also revealed that there were originally eight couples this season, but one — Elissa and Miguel — called off their engagement just a day later. Despite the separate filming location, Christine and Vic will still appear throughout the series.
