In a display of sheer grit and good humour, actress Lisa Riley conquered her first solo Bushtucker Trial on Sunday night's episode of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!
The Emmerdale star, 49, was voted by the public to face the 'Mine Of Misery', an abandoned diamond mine teeming with creepy crawlies, where she managed to collect an impressive eight out of a possible eleven stars.
Navigating the Mine of Misery
After greeting hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly as the "delicious duo", Lisa descended into the pitch-black underground challenge. Her mission was to hunt for diamond stars while avoiding dummy diamonds, all within an eleven-minute time limit.
The trial was not for the faint-hearted. As she crawled into the first section, she was immediately joined by rats, causing her to squeal as she felt around in the darkness. Her initial attempts saw her pick up a dummy diamond and even a camera, much to the amusement of Ant and Dec, before she correctly secured her first star.
The challenges intensified as she progressed. Cockroaches, mealworms, green ants, offal, fish guts, and spiders were all part of the gruelling ordeal. Despite the overwhelming conditions, Lisa kept her composure, successfully retrieving eight genuine stars without collecting a single dummy diamond.
Camp Celebrations and a Royal Exit
Back at the camp, a different kind of drama was unfolding. New camp leader, Shona McGarty, had fashioned a robe from a sleeping bag and a crown from a large jungle leaf, embracing her new role with theatrical flair.
Lisa's return was met with cheers from her fellow celebrities, who were delighted with her triumphant haul of eight stars. This victory provided a much-needed morale boost for the camp.
The episode also featured the first elimination of the series. Former Lioness Alex Scott, 41, was voted off by the public. Her exit came after comedian Eddie Kadi, the initial favourite to leave, was exempt from the vote due to winning a live trial.
Speaking to Ant and Dec after her departure, Alex showed no disappointment, stating, "It has been an incredible experience and mentally it has been tough but I am so glad I got to do it with so many amazing campmates." She received a huge round of applause from her campmates as she left.
What's Next in the Jungle?
The series continues to deliver high-stakes drama and entertainment as the remaining celebrities adapt to jungle life. With Lisa's successful trial proving the camp's resilience, viewers are eager to see who will be tested next.
I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player.
