Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley was overcome with emotion during Wednesday's episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! following the eviction of her close camp friend, comedian Ruby Wax.
An Emotional Farewell for Camp Leaders
The 49-year-old star, who had formed a tight bond with 72-year-old Wax during their time as camp leaders, broke down in tears as she waved goodbye to the comedian across the iconic bridge. In a touching gesture, Riley secured a pair of Ruby's 'lucky pants', which had been gifted to her, around her wrist as a memento.
Fellow campmate, the 24-year-old Twitch streamer known as AngryGinge, was also visibly upset by the departure. He expressed his sadness, stating: 'Absolutely gutted. She was amazing, she kept me going in here through our conversations, our laughs.' Viewers saw Ginge's dismay upon hearing the news that Ruby would be leaving the camp for good.
Camp Shake-Up and Chore Chaos
Ruby Wax's exit signalled a significant change for all remaining celebrities. With the camp leader gone, the leadership structure was immediately dissolved. The group received a laminate informing them that the leaders' treehouse was now off-limits, forcing Lisa Riley to rejoin the main camp.
The final seven campmates were then tasked with democratically assigning all camp chores amongst themselves. Ginge humorously called out Lisa, joking: 'You've been getting away with murder, bossing us around!' The Twitch streamer volunteered for chef duty alongside Shona, while it was decided that Lisa Riley and Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp would take on the double duty of washing up and the dreaded dunny (toilet) cleaning.
Other chore allocations included:
- Tom Read Wilson taking on both Wood Duty and Water Duty.
- Jack Osbourne joining Tom for Wood Duty.
- Rapper Aitch assisting with Water Duty.
Golden Egg Challenge Success
Elsewhere in the episode, the celebrities took part in a tense general knowledge challenge to win fresh eggs for breakfast. Starting with 32 golden eggs, they had to place their eggs under the answers they believed were correct for five questions, using structures marked A, B, or C.
For their first question, 'Which bird lays the largest egg - Eagle, Emu, Ostrich?', they bravely placed all 32 eggs on answer C, Ostrich. As Jack Osbourne quipped, 'This is literally us putting all our eggs in one basket!' The risky move paid off, and after all five questions, the camp successfully won 12 eggs for their breakfast.
The emotional episode comes after viewers recently hailed Lisa Riley as 'comedy gold' for her dramatic and joyful reaction to winning fish and chips for the camp earlier in the week, with many praising her for channelling the infectious energy of her Emmerdale character, Mandy Dingle.
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues Friday at 9pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
