Family Feud Erupts After Tragic Suicide
Leon Brown, the estranged transgender child of Sister Wives star Kody Brown, has broken their year-long social media silence with explosive allegations against their father. The 30-year-old Substack writer directly contradicted Kody's recent television claims about maintaining contact with his children.
Leon responded via Instagram Story on Tuesday to comments Kody made during Sunday's episode of the TLC reality show. The polygamist patriarch had tearfully asserted that he 'reached out to every one of my children multiple times' and suggested any broken relationships were due to lack of reciprocation.
"He Is a Liar": Leon's Emotional Response
'There's a ridiculous video of my father circulating where he says he reaches out to his children,' Leon wrote. 'Let me be so f***ing clear: I have not heard from that man since my brother killed himself.'
The sibling referenced was their half-brother, Robert 'Garrison' Brown, a 25-year-old Nevada Army National Guardsman who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in March 2024. The tragedy prompted a public statement from Garrison's mother, Janelle Schriever Brown, who described her son as 'a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him.'
Leon, who came out as lesbian in 2017 and underwent gender affirmation in 2022, made further serious allegations about their father's behaviour during the funeral proceedings. They claimed Kody 'blatantly blew me off at Garrison's funeral' before delivering their final verdict: 'He is a liar. He is a joke of a father. That's all.'
Reality TV Drama Meets Real Family Trauma
The family conflict played out publicly during Sunday's Sister Wives episode, where Kody Brown broke down in tears while discussing his strained relationships with his older children. The 56-year-old grandfather-of-six admitted he doesn't feel 'comfortable communicating with' them and remains 'angry about what a lot of the kids have said, done and believed.'
Brown's current wife, Robyn Sullivan Brown, suggested that his three former wives might be 'influencing' how 'hurt' their children feel about him. This theory was promptly dismissed by both Janelle and Christine Allred Woolley, Brown's third ex-'wife'.
'I wish I had a lot of influence on my adult children,' Janelle scoffed. 'Boy, things would be really different.' Christine echoed the sentiment, stating: 'I'm just exhausted and so tired of being blamed for how his kids feel about him. It's his responsibility and not mine.'
The Brown family estrangement extends beyond Leon, with reports suggesting Kody is also disconnected from his 24-year-old son Gabe Brown and 30-year-old daughter Madison Brush. The family's complicated dynamics have been publicly documented since they began starring in Sister Wives in 2010, a decision that reportedly led to their ex-communication from the Mormon church Apostolic United Brethren, though some reports suggest this narrative was fabricated to make the family appear more mainstream.
Leon's decision to break their social media silence highlights the ongoing trauma within the Brown family following Garrison's tragic death and raises questions about the impact of reality television on complex family relationships during times of crisis.
