Kelvin Fletcher left his wife Liz in shock during a repeat episode of Fletcher's Family Farm when he revealed he had sold their goats without telling her. The couple, who run a Cheshire farm together, often miss each other during busy days of farming and raising their family.
Farm's future depends on focus
Kelvin said: "The future of our farm depends on us focusing our efforts on the breeds that produce products we want to sell." While Liz was out, Kelvin found the goats a new home in Wales. When Liz asked where they were, Kelvin replied: "They've gone to a good home. They've gone to an actual goat farm. A pygmy goat breeder who specialises in pygmy goats, and who loves pygmy goats? But that's what they want. They want to be with all their mates. They didn't have any mates here."
Liz put her head in her hands and said: "Would have been nice to say goodbye." Kelvin explained: "I know, but I had to think fast. To be fair, I didn't realise how popular they were! I put an advert up, and that same night I got inundated with messages, and I think it was Friday afternoon. So I'm sorry, but..."
Money from goats to buy sheep
Liz asked if Kelvin received money for the goats, and he confirmed he had. "Oh, where's the money?" Liz laughed. The former Emmerdale star said he planned to buy more sheep. "We've got to keep it simple," he stated. "No pets apart from Ginger. I think the alpacas are next to go."
Kelvin added: "Liz was definitely more attached to the goats than me, but at least we can agree that by selling them, we are now a step closer to being a native breed farm."
