Kate Lawler is returning to her Big Brother roots more than 20 years after winning the show, having landed a brand-new role with ITV. The 46-year-old made history in 2002 when she became the competition's first ever female champion.
On Wednesday (August 26), ITV announced that Kate will front a companion series alongside podcaster GK Barry. The show, titled Big Brother: The Group Chat, will see the pair dissect big moments from the main series, which is expected to return this autumn.
Full-circle moment
Reflecting on the news, Kate said: "Big Brother has been a huge part of my life since I first stepped through those doors 24 years ago, so to now be returning in this role alongside the fantastic GK Barry feels like an exciting full-circle moment."
She added: "I can't wait to get stuck into all the conversations, twists and talking points with the fans, while bringing a little of my own first-hand experience to the mix."
Show format and broadcast details
The Group Chat will air Sunday through Thursday immediately after Big Brother on ITV2, ITVX and YouTube, with episodes also available across leading podcast platforms. The video podcast will feature exclusive interviews with evicted housemates, alongside celebrity fans and special guests.
A synopsis for the show teases: "From the biggest moments to the hot topics sparking conversation, Kate and GK will be on hand to dissect the drama, celebrate the stand-out scenes and weigh in on the decisions and surprises shaping the game."
Series expectations
ITV is yet to confirm the launch date for the forthcoming series, but it will run for eight weeks, making it the broadcaster's longest run to date. Big Brother follows a group of strangers after they move into the iconic house, where they face ambitious tasks, brutal nominations and dramatic live evictions in a bid to outlast their rivals.
Viewers at home ultimately decide which housemate claims the title and takes home a life-changing cash prize. Big Brother returns this autumn on ITV2 and ITVX for its biggest series yet.
