Former Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan has questioned why the show needs three presenters, following the debut of new hosts Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe.
Comparison to previous hosting duos
Jordan, who was a pro dancer on the show from 2006 until 2013, drew comparisons to earlier lineups. "It is always a funny one, isn't it? Because you're going to compare it to what we previously had. We had Brucey and Tess, and then when Bruce left, everyone went, 'Oh, it's not going to be the same having two women presenting'. And I was one of those people as well who doubted it and thought it wasn't a great idea that they were just trying to tick a box," he said.
"But Claudia and Tess were brilliant with each other. They were amazing. The problem is, we only watched the launch show, which dragged on a little bit as well," he added, referring to the launch show on Saturday, September 19. "It was nearly two hours, which I felt was a bit too long."
Early impressions of the new hosts
Speaking on behalf of Which Bingo, Jordan praised Willis. "Emma is fantastic. You can clearly see she is a seasoned presenter, and I think she did such an amazing job. Hopefully, she'll be at the helm of the show, which I think she will be."
"With the other two, it's too early to say. There's been a lot of negative press around them, but it was a launch show. Once the show starts, I think that's when we can really tell."
Uncertainty over the third presenter role
Jordan admitted confusion over the arrangement. "At the moment, there are three presenters. I found it all a little bit confusing as to why Strictly needs three presenters and not two," he said. "But that might become clear once the live shows start. They might each have a different role on the show."
He continued: "I don't know what the third role might be. Are they going to talk to them before they run up the stairs? The three presenters - I still am unsure how that's going to work, but I think the show overall was great."
"I think that they're going to bed in. There were clearly nerves there, and everything, because it's a massive show, isn't it? Big shoes to fill."
Body language analysis of Josh Widdicombe
Josh Widdicombe has faced criticism following the launch. Body language expert Inbaal Honigman, speaking on behalf of Covers.com, told Express.co.uk: "Emma is carrying the presenter duties almost single-handedly, and they all know it.
"As Josh gets used to the new job, he is panicking internally. When the three stand together, Josh leans towards Emma, showing that he is depending on her. Josh tries to tuck himself slightly behind the others, as if trying to avoid getting noticed or picked first at school."
