The Inbetweeners is returning, but producers have confirmed that not all fan favourites will be back. Emily Atack, who played Charlotte 'Big Jugs' Hinchcliffe, is reportedly not reprising her role in the upcoming movie.
Creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley have hinted that her absence is due to script constraints. They said on Instagram that they couldn't find a "plausible way in the script to bring back all the 'fwends'."
Producers address fan speculation
The duo added: "People will speculate about why we made these choices. But, sadly, the truth is we just couldn't find a plausible way in the script to bring back all our lovely 'fwends'. It's not as headline worthy, but it's the truth."
They stopped short of revealing who they were talking about, with some followers panicking it was regarding Greg Davies' character Mr Gilbert. Emily's character had a brief fling with nerdy Will McKenzie (Simon Bird) and was popular during the series, but she was absent from the previous movies.
Returning cast and new faces
A sneak peek at photos last week showed some characters returning. Former Emmerdale actress Emily Head, who starred as Simon's teenage obsession Carli D'Amato for the three series from 2008 to 2010 and the 2011 film, was spotted on set.
Other new faces include Irish actor Tadhg Murphy, American actress Lisanne Falk - known for starring alongside Winona Ryder and Christian Slater in Heathers - and Black Mirror actress Marama Corlette.
James Buckley's role hint
James Buckley, who has starred in Zapped, Doctor Who and Red Dwarf, also seemingly revealed a major detail about his role. In his latest Cameo video, he wore a high-vis jacket emblazoned with an in-universe logo, leading fans to think his character may have ended up working at his father's construction company.
One fan said: "His dads business was Cartwright Plant Hire so the jacket shows he is probably working there." The person who posted the video added: "Oh s**t I feel like I've leaked something now unknowingly. He shouldn't have sent me the vid then should he …I didn't sign no nda."
