I'm A Celeb's Unpacked Spin-Off Branded 'Dead' By Fans

ITV's highly anticipated I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! companion show, Unpacked, is struggling to win over viewers despite flying big-name guests like Alison Hammond and Jill Scott to Australia business class each week.

Viewer Backlash on Social Media

Fans of the main ITV reality show have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to voice their disappointment with the spin-off, hosted by Joel Dommett and Kemi Rogers on ITV2. Many have branded the show 'dead' and are calling for it to be 'cancelled'.

One frustrated viewer wrote: 'That I'm A Celeb unpacked needs to be cancelled.' Another added: 'Am I the only one who thinks Unpacked is just dead... none of them have any enthusiasm.. So monotone. I wanna watch but it's hard to watch.' A third user commented, 'I've tried to watch, but quickly lose interest,' highlighting the show's failure to capture audience engagement.

Star-Studded But Struggling

Despite airing each night after the main programme on ITV2 and featuring exclusive material like 'unseen bits' and previews of the next day's episodes, Unpacked has not managed to hook the same viewership as its parent show.

The production has pulled out all the stops with its guest list. Since its Sunday premiere, the panel has featured former contestants Alison Hammond, 50, and Melvin Odoom, 45, alongside comedian Keith Lemon, 51.

Looking ahead, the show is set to welcome former Lioness Jill Scott, who won the jungle crown in 2022, and comedian Seann Walsh, who placed fifth that same year. Also returning for a guest week is former King of the Jungle, Sam Thompson.

Behind-the-Scenes Drama Revealed

The show has not been without its dramatic revelations. During an episode, Alison Hammond spoke out about her 15-year-long feud with Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder from her own time in the jungle.

The discussion began when host Joel Dommett asked the panel about potential clashes among current campmates. Alison recalled her experience, stating, 'I'll never forget, I walked in and said the party's here with my Terry's Chocolate Orange, and everyone was like [unbothered face]. Then, Shaun Ryder hated my guts straight away for no reason. He was very rude.'

She added, 'So hopefully there are no Shaun Ryders in there [this year].' Comedian Leigh Francis, a friend of Ryder's who was also on the panel, attempted to defend the musician, saying, 'I know Shaun and he's normally really lovely.'

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
