Fans of the hit reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! have been left fuming after the programme's iconic opening titles were dramatically overhauled for its 25th series.
End of an Era for Iconic Sequence
The series returned on Sunday night with Geordie presenting duo Ant and Dec broadcasting live from Brisbane, Australia. However, within minutes of the premiere, loyal viewers noticed something was missing - the famous helicopter sequence that had introduced celebrities for nearly two decades.
For almost 20 years, the show's opening had featured the famous faces appearing on gigantic letters being lowered into the jungle by helicopters. This beloved introduction has now been replaced with a completely new concept showing the celebrities inside falling stars as they land in different areas of the jungle, reportedly as a nod to their value when it comes to trials.
Social Media Backlash Erupts
Viewers immediately took to social media to express their outrage at the change. One furious fan wrote: 'Woah woah woah why have they changed the intro titles, where are the helicopters.'
Another demanded: 'Editors, sort out this dross and bring the classic titles back for tomorrow or there will be an issue.' A third viewer insisted: 'ITV need to bring back the old titles like I'm so serious. i want the helicopters, the celebs in the letters. it didn't need to change.'
The criticism wasn't limited to the concept change, with one particularly unimpressed viewer comparing the new graphics to amateur work, posting: 'The new titles look like someone just used the slide up effect in windows movie maker.'
Celebrity Line-up and Jungle Arrival
This year's contestants include Kelly Brook, Martin Kemp, Eddie Kadi, Shona McGarty, Ruby Wax, Angry Ginge, Alex Scott, Aitch, Lisa Riley and Jack Osbourne, all competing to be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle.
The celebrities faced their first challenge immediately upon arrival, battling for two coveted seats in the Getaway car - the fastest route to camp that awards the comfiest beds and steak for dinner. After wading through offal and slime to unlock the key fob, Aitch and Eddie secured the keys, allowing them to enter the jungle in luxury with cocktails and canapés.
Those who lost the initial challenge faced a much less glamorous journey in the Cockie van, where they encountered thousands of critters and snakes crawling over their heads. Alex Scott squealed: 'They're all down my bloody bra!' while Kelly Brook screamed: 'Oh my god, they're biting my t***!'
I'm A Celebrity continues on ITV1 and ITVX with viewers eagerly watching to see if producers will respond to the overwhelming criticism of the new title sequence.
