Gladiators returned to BBC One for its second episode of the series, hosted by Bradley and Barney Walsh, with a new group of contenders battling for quarter-final places. The episode featured dramatic moments, including a historic achievement and disciplinary action against one of the Gladiators.
Cyclone's Warning and Emily's Historic Victory
During the first event of the evening, contender Emily faced Gladiator Cyclone in the Duel challenge. Referee Mark Clattenburg quickly intervened, issuing a warning to Cyclone for pushing. He stated, "No pushing," as Emily struggled to maintain her position on the podium. Within seconds, Mark repeated the warning, emphasising, "No pushing, Cyclone, no pushing."
After a third warning, Cyclone appeared rattled and failed to dislodge Emily from the podium. Emily successfully completed the Duel, becoming the first competitor in the show's history to achieve this feat. Post-event, Emily remarked, "At the start she told me, 'you've already lost,' and she was barking in my face. But, I don't remember that loss."
Cyclone's Response and Viewer Reactions
When host Bradley Walsh questioned Cyclone about the incident, she responded with fighting talk, declaring, "If you make it to the quarters, I'll be there." Cyclone then stormed off, while Emily celebrated her victory, earning five points.
Viewers took to social media to comment on the event. One fan posted, "#Gladiators 'You're already lost?' Nah, surviving against Cyclone, it's already a win in my eyes." Another added, "Cyclone. That was embarrassing. #Gladiators," and a third congratulated Emily, saying, "Nice one Emily #Gladiators."
Other Highlights from the Episode
The episode also featured Gladiator Legend delivering a team talk, Sabre causing destruction in the arena, and the debut of a brand new event. These elements contributed to the high-energy atmosphere of the show.
Gladiators continues to air on BBC One on Saturdays at 5.45pm, offering more action-packed entertainment for viewers.
