Reality television star Gemma Collins, who has just departed from the I'm A Celebrity... South Africa jungle, could be poised for a swift return to screens in a high-profile new role. The TOWIE legend exited the ITV reality show during Monday's episode, marking her second stint in the franchise after first appearing in Australia twelve years ago.
Gemma Collins Reflects on Her Jungle Experience
Discussing her time on the show, The GC expressed mixed emotions about her departure. "All good things have to come to an end, but all I can say is it has been so amazing being able to relive it again," she stated. "It was great to see Craig [Charles] and Jimmy [Bullard] again, and to spend that time with them again has just been priceless. Plus, meeting new campmates, forming new bonds and listening to everyone's stories. I’ve had a blast."
She humorously added, "At one point, I really did feel the producers were trying to kill me! I said it in the Bush Telegraph. I’m very lucky, I do have a few luxuries in life. I missed having a bath and putting all my lotions and potions on at night." Collins also noted missing simple comforts like magnesium spray, soft carpets, and water, expressing newfound appreciation for everyday amenities.
Reflecting on her personal growth, she said, "I'm proud of myself for sure. I got redemption for myself and I didn't say no to anything. I got on and did it. It definitely wasn't easy at times, but I’m really proud of myself for sure. 100% it’s given me a confidence boost."
Betting Odds Slashed for Celebrity Traitors Appearance
Since her exit from the camp, Gemma Collins has seen a significant surge in betting odds to appear on the next series of Celebrity Traitors. Bookmaker Ladbrokes has dramatically cut her odds from 12/1 to 4/1, indicating strong speculation among punters that she will join the BBC series.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes commented on the trend, saying, "Punters are clearly buying into the idea of Gemma Collins bringing full GC energy to Celebrity Traitors. Her odds have been cut dramatically, and at this rate she could be one of the standout names when the cast is revealed."
Success of Celebrity Traitors and Future Series
The first series of Celebrity Traitors proved to be a ratings triumph for BBC One earlier this year, with comedian Alan Carr winning as a Traitor and securing nearly £90,000 for charity. The grand finale attracted an impressive 15.4 million viewers, prompting the broadcaster to plan a second series to replicate that success.
While no official announcements have been made regarding the cast for the upcoming series, host Claudia Winkleman recently hinted at big names signing on. During an appearance on The One Show, she revealed, "There certainly are. The people who make it are extraordinary and they had to repeat the people twice to me because I was like, ‘Huh, are you joking? Come again.' So, we’re incredibly lucky."
Winkleman added, "We’re so grateful that people want to come and play the game and the people who said yes for series one, I still can’t believe it." This suggests that the production team is securing high-profile participants, with Gemma Collins now a leading contender based on betting markets.
I'm A Celebrity… South Africa continues to air Monday to Friday on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm, keeping fans engaged as speculation builds around Collins' potential next move into the castle setting of Celebrity Traitors.
