Emmerdale's Sarah Sugden and Charity Dingle are hiding the truth about Dr Todd's death, but several characters could uncover their secret. Days ago, Sarah accidentally killed Todd after a confrontation at Charity's home, where Todd had refused to leave after blackmailing and raping Charity.
Charity demanded a confession from Todd, who again denied the assault. When Sarah walked in, she learned of her grandmother's ordeal and tearfully confronted Todd. As Charity ordered him out, Sarah shoved him toward the door, causing Todd to slip on a rug and hit his head against a table, resulting in his death. Serena Sugden then entered and helped them cover up the incident.
Possible Exposers
Charity claimed she killed Todd, with Sarah as a witness. But as detectives investigate, several characters might reveal the lie. Cain Dingle, Sarah's grandfather, recently gave Charity a St Christopher necklace and promised support. Could Charity rely on him, or might Cain deduce she is protecting Sarah?
Serena, a former police officer, helped fabricate the story and fake evidence but told them not to drag her in. She might betray them to protect herself. DS Ramsden, already investigating, could have a breakthrough and uncover the truth.
Family and Personal Stakes
Mack Boyd, Charity's husband, is unaware of the secret. With actor Lawrence Robb set to take time away for Strictly Come Dancing, Mack might sense something is off. Jacob Gallagher, Sarah's husband, was bullied by Todd at work and might figure out Sarah's involvement.
Sarah herself is struggling with guilt and has nearly slipped up with police. She might confess to stop Charity from being blamed. Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
