Channel 4 has confirmed that the acclaimed documentary series Educating Yorkshire will return for a new series. The show, which first aired in 2013, will once again follow staff and students at Thornhill Community Academy in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
Return After Decade-Long Hiatus
Headteacher Matthew Burton, who became a household name after guiding a pupil with a stammer through a poetry recitation in the original series, remains at the helm of the school. The new series comes after the show staged a comeback in 2025, earning a BAFTA nomination and attracting 8.7 million viewers across linear and streaming platforms.
The programme proved particularly popular with younger audiences, securing a 28% share of viewers aged 16–34. According to Channel 4, three in ten viewers in that age group said the series inspired them to consider a career in education or youth work.
