Landy's Fish and Chips, a large restaurant and takeaway on North Bridge in central Edinburgh, has been named the Daily Record's Chippy of the Week, ideal for a post-show bite during the Fringe.
Festival Season Favourite
Opened in December 2024, the two-storey venue has become a highlight of Edinburgh's food scene in less than two years. The eatery serves haddock caught in the North Atlantic from carefully managed fishing grounds. Fish and chips are fried in Landy's signature beef dripping, while gluten-free options are cooked in dedicated fryers using premium vegetable oil.
Customers can choose between breaded haddock, cajun spiced oven baked haddock, lemon and herb oven baked haddock, or vegan fish and chips. All are served with twice-cooked chips and tartare sauce, with sides including chippy gravy, curry sauce, and garden or mushy peas.
Menu and Reviews
Other menu options include steak pie, breaded chicken breast, mac and cheese, and steak and vegan burgers. A separate tapas menu features king prawn tempura, salt and pepper squid, deep-fried pizza or crunch, haggis dirty chips, and Irn-Bru wings. The dessert menu highlights a deep-fried Mars bar with whippy ice cream and raspberry sauce, plus sticky toffee pudding, lemon tart, banoffee pie, warmed chocolate brownie, and a cheesecake of the day.
Landy's has received more than 2,400 reviews on Google, holding an overall rating of 4.6 out of five. One recent customer commented: "Busy festival season and was still seated quickly, offered a drink at the bar while waiting and was well taken care of. Meals were delicious, hot and nicely presented."
Another shared: "American. First time trying Fish and Chips besides Southwest chain called Pete’s. Blew us away. Sam walked us through the ins and outs of different ways people enjoy their Fish dinners. One of us was gluten free so they took are of us and marked everything. 10/10 would come back."
