Reality TV star Dani Dyer is seen breaking down in emotional tears in the first trailer for the upcoming series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. The Love Island winner and mum-of-three has joined the brutal UK versus Australia special edition of the hit Channel 4 show.
A Gruelling Challenge Ahead
The new series, filmed in the harsh environment of North Africa, pits a team of British celebrities against their Australian counterparts in a series of extreme physical and mental tests. The show is set to premiere on Channel 4 on January 4.
In the dramatic trailer, the 29-year-old, who is married to West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen, appears dazed while preparing to abseil down a cliff face. Later footage shows Dani sobbing heavily, though the exact cause of her distress is not yet revealed.
The recruits are stripped of their identities and luxury lifestyles under the command of Chief Instructor Mark 'Billy' Billingham and his directing staff. Dani had originally revealed she signed up for the reality challenge back in June, shortly before a foot injury forced her to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing in September.
'I'm Nuts,' Admits Dyer
Speaking about her decision to take part, Dani Dyer admitted she was "nuts" but explained her motivation. “I’m a massive fan of the show. I’ve always watched it and wondered if I could do it,” she shared.
“I want to put myself to the test. I’m nuts, but I think I will be good at it. I’ll be completely out of my comfort zone. I just hope that I will be able to stop listening to the voices in my head and just get to the end because that would make me so proud.”
She confessed that her biggest battle would likely be psychological. “I think physically I’ve got this. Mentally is what I’ll struggle with as my brain attacks me all the bloody time,” Dani said. “I just want to believe in myself a little bit more and stop being a negative Nancy.”
Star-Studded UK and Australia Line-Up
The British team features a mix of reality stars, athletes, and social media personalities. Alongside Dani Dyer, the plucky recruits include:
- Former Love Islander Gabby Allen, 33
- Social media stars Jack Joseph, 25, and Cole Anderson-James, 28
- Rugby World Cup winner Ben Cohen, 46
- Gladiator and Olympian Toby Olubi, 37
- Former England cricketer Graeme Swann, 46
They will face a formidable Australian team, which includes:
- Married At First Sight Australia star Jessika Power, 33
- Neighbours actors Ryan Moloney, 45, and Natalie Bassingthwaite, 50
- Ex-cricketer Brad Hodge, 50
- Olympic swimmers Emily Seebohm, 33, and Mack Horton, 29
The trailer also hints at the intense pressure the celebrities are under, with one recruit appearing to have an embarrassing accident during the induction, leaving a puddle of water at their feet in front of the no-nonsense staff.
Viewers will have to wait for the series launch to see if Dani Dyer can conquer her inner doubts and complete the punishing Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins course.
