Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) is set to manipulate Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) and Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, using them as pawns in a high-stakes poker game to fund his purchase of Speed Daal.
Idris's scheme to buy Speed Daal
Having already revealed himself as Alya Nazir's (Sair Khan) secret uncle, Idris is determined to buy the restaurant. Alya has decided to sell her share for £50,000, but Idris is short by £15,000. Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) offers to lend him £5,000, and Idris then books Speed Daal for a private poker night, enlisting Ollie and Lauren to help, insisting Alya and Leanne must not find out.
The poker night and its risks
Idris tells Ollie he will provide the cash, stack the odds in his favour, and give him a cut of the winnings. Lauren overhears the instructions and warns Ollie that cheating could have serious consequences. Meanwhile, police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) learns about the poker night from Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) and persuades Idris to let him join as a player. Another player, dodgy car dealer Fiona Morley (Sara Poyzer), who previously supplied the gun used in the Websters' garage standoff, insists on doubling the stakes.
The fallout
Ollie wins the game, much to Idris's relief, but Fiona is furious. After Idris scolds Brody for stealing drinks, Brody reveals to Leanne that the poker night involved her money. Idris has used Ollie and Lauren as pawns against a dangerous crime boss to win enough money for the restaurant. How Leanne will react remains to be seen.
