Coronation Street fans are convinced they have worked out the truth behind newcomer Lucy Parkinson, as her first scenes aired. The character arrived just days after Richie Parkinson's first appearance, and viewers are already theorising that she may be responsible for her mother's death.
Lucy's Arrival and the Murder Twist
Earlier this week, viewers were introduced to Tim Metcalfe's cousin, Richie Parkinson, who told Tim he was experiencing a rocky patch with his wife Rachel. After spending two nights on Tim and Sally's sofa, Richie returned home but accidentally left his wallet. When Tim returned it, he was shocked to find Richie's shirt covered in blood and Rachel lifeless on the floor.
DS Lisa Connor-Swain later confirmed that Richie had been charged with the murder of his wife. Lisa informed Tim and Sally that Richie's daughter, Lucy, has been taken into care, while Richie claims he acted in self-defence.
Foster Placement Falls Through
During Thursday's (August 13) visit to Weatherfield, Sally took a call from Ruth, the social worker, who explained that Lucy's foster placement had fallen through and they were struggling to find another suitable family. Tim arranged for Lucy to move in with them, without consulting Sally.
When Lucy arrives, Sally forces a smile. Ruth explains that Lucy is suffering from grief and trauma and needs reassurance. As Sally heads upstairs to fetch Lucy for tea, she is horrified to discover she has done a runner. Sally and Tim find Lucy at the bus stop and persuade her to come home, but have they taken on more than they can handle?

Taking to Instagram, Anya Dewin, who plays Lucy Parkinson, shared a snap of herself beaming outside the iconic Rovers Return, gushing: "I still can’t quite believe I get to say this, but I’m so grateful to be joining the cast of Coronation Street! Viewers took to social media to theorise that Lucy might be the one behind her mum's death, after Tim was told by Lisa that she had been put into care following Richie's arrest. One fan wrote: "I actually think her temper is on purpose. I fully believe she killed her mum and Richie must be covering for her so she doesn’t get sent down." Another added: "I'm convinced Lucy killed her mum," while a third penned: "I think there's a possibility that Lucy's mother was indeed very abusive towards her and her father."
