Channel 4 has confirmed that its reality series Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing, fronted by Jonathan Ross, will return for another series. The announcement follows the success of the first series, which aired earlier this year and saw contestants handcuffed together in pairs around the clock.
During the first run, viewers watched emotions run high, tempers rise and arguments unfold as partnered contestants with contrasting beliefs, opinions, lifestyles and habits were forced to stay linked to one another for as long as possible.
Winners and early exits
The first duo to drop out were Sir Ben Slade and George, who gave up after 12 hours and 47 minutes together following an argument. The most successful pairing was homemaker Charlie and adult content creator Rob, who secured a combined £100,000 prize.
Speaking about their win at the time, Rob said: "It felt great! I just wanted to shout 'FREEDOM' at the top of my lungs. It was a nice moment, but also a little sad moment knowing that my partner has now got to go."
Charlie added: "It was a huge relief. We actually had to wait quite a long time! It wasn't like we were instantly un-handcuffed. It was a crazy experience, but a huge relief. It took a while to get used to doing things on my own, but that's maybe because I was very overtired."
What to expect next
Executive Producer Tom Clarke shared that he was 'thrilled' viewers enjoyed the competition the first time around, referencing the 'high-octane thrills and spills'.
The pair remained close after filming ended, with Charlie explaining they had been messaging Rob's family and organising a visit to her home. She added: "It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Rob was really keen that I didn't put everyone else's needs first, and I've tried to implement that since. We talked about a lot of things! Rob is a very deep person, and he's a very good listener."
As of yet, no confirmed broadcast date has been announced for the second series. The first series of Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing is available to watch on Channel 4.
