Former TOWIE star Yazmin Oukhellou has revealed she threatened to quit Celebrity Ex On The Beach because she could not cope with sharing a bathroom. The 29-year-old, who now lives in Dubai, told the Mirror that she was used to a luxury lifestyle and struggled with the shared living conditions on set.
“I thought I’d be in a lovely hotel… but I had to live there with everyone, sharing the shower, sharing the toilet,” she said. “I threatened to leave every day. I said I’d fly economy, I don’t care, take it out the contract.” She credited fellow contestant Joe Garratt with calming her down, calling him her “in-house therapist”.
Oukhellou joined the show two years after surviving a horrific car crash in Bodrum, Turkey, in July 2022, which killed her then-boyfriend Jake McLean. She admitted she was worried she might have a “breakdown” on arrival, especially when faced with her TOWIE ex James Lock, but described the experience as “really good” overall.
After the crash, Oukhellou attended a wellness retreat in Marrakech, where she worked with life coaches. She later shared advice on social media, urging followers to “start small” and write down three things they are grateful for each morning.
