Bear Grylls' Welsh TV show has viewers all saying same thing
Bear Grylls' Welsh TV show viewers all say same thing

Bear Grylls' BBC show Wild Reckoning aired a repeat episode on Wednesday (August 12), and viewers were quick to praise the stunning Welsh countryside featured in the programme.

Viewers praise Welsh scenery

The show, which originally aired earlier this year, sees Bear help people in conflict fix their relationships by venturing into the wilderness. In the first episode, estranged brother and sister Dawn and David came face to face for the first time in nearly five years. Their relationship has been complicated, with Dawn being given up for adoption at birth while her younger brother was kept.

During the show, the pair took on a navigation challenge and a counterbalance abseil. They also confronted painful subjects from their past in an emotional campfire chat with relationship therapist Simone.

Fans share their verdict

Viewers took to Facebook to share their thoughts. One person wrote: "Well done what an amazing series in stunning Wales." Another said: "Just wanted to shout out about the gorgeousness of North Wales being showcased beautifully on the BBC's Wild Reckoning with Bear Grylls, you can catch it on iPlayer now. Stunning scenery, heartwarming stories and it makes you laugh and cry. What a programme."

A third commented: "Say what you want about Bear Grylls. I think this show comes from a good place and has a good heart." Another added: "Very moving."

Bear on the wild's impact

Bear previously spoke about how the Welsh countryside helps people open up on the show. He said: "I think it slows us down and there's nowhere to hide. You can't storm off. You can't just pick up your phone. You can't just get in the car. And the wild doesn't judge, but you can't hide. Masks don't last very long when you're cold and hungry and scared and it's just the two of you. We'll put the framework there, but you've got to do it. That can be painful and very difficult. And we always, in relational issues, like to hide behind things."

Describing the show, Bear explained: "I would say it's taking people who have basically some of the most life-changing challenges in their relationships out into the wild for two days to see if the wild can do what regular counselling can't."

Bear Grylls: Wild Reckoning airs at 6:30 on BBC Two.
