I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! frontrunner AngryGinge is in hot water with ITV bosses after being exposed for smuggling contraband into the jungle camp. The streaming star's rule-breaking was revealed by fellow campmate Vogue Williams as she was eliminated on Monday night, December 1.
Vogue Williams Drops the Dirt on Jungle Buttergate
Vogue Williams, 40, wasted no time in revealing the secret after her exit. Speaking to hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, she declared she was 'dobbing him in'. The revelation came after several clashes between the pair over camp chores.
The mother-of-three disclosed that the influencer, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, had used butter to flavour the camp's basic rice and beans. Vogue explained that AngryGinge had found the butter on the jungle floor, cleaned it, and used the remnants. She questioned his logic, stating: 'I don't know where he got it, it wasn't even full butter, what's the point of that?'
This incident follows a report by the Daily Mail earlier in the week that a packet of butter had been discovered in camp, though the culprit was unknown at the time.
A History of Contraband in This Year's Jungle
This is not the first contraband scandal to rock the camp during this series. Former England footballer Alex Scott was previously caught smuggling in a sachet of salt. A clip showed the 41-year-old secretly seasoning her food, with Ant and Dec commenting on her theft from a hotel.
Alex faced significant punishment for her actions. She was forced to surrender all her salt, and the camp lost a star, which further reduced their already meagre dinner rations.
In a separate incident, EastEnders actress Shona McGarty, 34, was found to have hidden an air freshener in her waistband, stolen from a trial, and placed it in the camp toilet.
Despite an amnesty box being introduced last week to encourage campmates to surrender forbidden items, the butter was not handed in. A show source told the Daily Mail: 'It's been a day of twists and turns with more contraband found and the consequences of this rule break has rocked the whole camp.'
Punishment Looms for the Final Favourite
With the final scheduled for Sunday, December 7, AngryGinge has been a popular favourite to win the series. However, his standing could now be jeopardised by the impending punishment from producers.
In her first interview since leaving the show, Alex Scott detailed her own 'Saltgate' experience to the Daily Mail. She revealed she picked up salt sachets from a hotel and hid them in her sock. She said Jack Osbourne knew as he was on cooking duty, and recalled that AngryGinge, 24, 'saw me one night and kept giving me the eye'.
The discovery of contraband so close to the final adds a dramatic twist to the competition's conclusion. Fans will have to tune in to see what penalty AngryGinge receives and whether it affects his chances of being crowned King of the Jungle.
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues Tuesday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
