Amber Davies, the actor, podcaster, Love Island winner and West End star, has joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing. She will make her debut on the first live show of the series, airing tomorrow night on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
Davies, who is Welsh, first rose to fame as the winner of Love Island in 2017. Since then, she has pursued a professional acting career, with lead roles in theatre productions including Pretty Woman, 9 to 5: The Musical, and The Great Gatsby. She also presented the documentary Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5, hosts the podcast Call To Stage, and competed in the sixteenth series of Dancing on Ice.
Davies will dance with professional partner Nikita Kuzmin, and they will perform a Waltz on tomorrow night's show. She replaces Dani Dyer, who withdrew from the competition due to injury.
On joining the show, Davies said: 'This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life. I’ve watched Strictly with my family since I was younger and to now be part of the show is a dream come true. I’m going to give it my all and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope I do her proud.'
Davies will compete against a cast including Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Alex Kingston, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Balvinder Sopal, George Clarke, La Voix, Chris Robshaw, Ellie Goldstein, Thomas Skinner, Vicky Pattison, Stefan Dennis, Ross King, Karen Carney and Lewis Cope.
