Adam Thomas Details 'Tough' I'm A Celebrity South Africa Experience with David Haye
Actor Adam Thomas has candidly shared that fellow contestant David Haye 'broke me and pushed me to my limits' during their time filming I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here South Africa. The 37-year-old star opened up about his challenging journey in the jungle through an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, reflecting on clashes that occurred on the ITV reality series.
Physical and Emotional Struggles in the Jungle
Adam revealed he faced significant hardships 'physically, mentally, and emotionally' throughout his stint on the hit show. He admitted there were moments when he 'didn’t recognise himself,' highlighting the intense pressure of the environment. Sharing a photo of himself looking distressed in a hammock, the Waterloo Road actor explained that his autoimmune psoriatic arthritis, diagnosed in 2023, 'really took its toll' during filming. He struggled to 'hide the pain,' describing it as his 'biggest fight' to maintain a brave face while enduring exhaustion.
Reflections on Conflict and Growth
In his post, Adam wrote, 'Not going to lie, this picture breaks my heart, as I know on the inside what I was dealing with and truth be told I thought it was all my fault. I now know that’s not the reality…' He acknowledged that watching the show back has been difficult, with times when he felt pushed to his absolute limit. Adam expressed regret over not speaking up sooner or standing his ground during conflicts, but he emphasized that he has learned valuable lessons about kindness and strength from the experience.
Moving Forward and Reconciliation
Adam concluded by stating he is now in a 'better place' after processing the events. He expressed pride in not quitting the show despite urges to walk away. Importantly, he revealed that he has since spoken to David Haye, who apologised for his actions. Adam said, 'He broke me in there, he pushed me to my limits, and I’ve told David this and he’s apologised and that’s that! I’ve moved on now, am not one to hold a grudge.' He thanked fans for their supportive messages and encouraged others to find strength in challenging situations.
Background on the Clash
The tension between Adam and David stemmed from an incident on the show where Adam smuggled chocolate bars for the rival team, leading to a punishment that reduced food portions for all campmates. David reacted angrily, suggesting Adam's portion should be smaller, which sparked protests from other celebrities. Adam later confronted David about the ongoing criticism, with the row eventually diffused by fellow contestant Scarlett Moffatt. This conflict added to the emotional strain Adam experienced, contributing to his overall 'tough' journey in the jungle.
