Robin Bailey's Radio Show Axed: KIIS FM Host Seen in Tears
Robin Bailey emotional after radio show axed

Veteran radio presenter Robin Bailey has been left heartbroken after the sudden cancellation of her popular KIIS FM breakfast show in Brisbane. The 55-year-old was pictured looking visibly distressed outside the studios, wiping away tears after learning the programme would end two weeks earlier than planned.

Emotional Goodbye for Brisbane Radio Star

The KIIS FM host appeared emotional outside her Brisbane studios on Friday after discovering she and co-hosts Kip Wightman and Corey Oates would wrap up their show immediately rather than continuing until December 12 as originally scheduled. Robin, who first joined Brisbane radio in 1995, was seen leaning against a car with tears on her cheeks, her arms crossed tightly as she processed the news.

Dressed in snakeskin mini shorts and a brown shirt with layered bangles and Birkenstock sandals, the experienced broadcaster was later captured pausing on the studio stairs to compose herself before returning inside. The emotional scenes came despite the trio having known since October that their show would end by year's end, though the accelerated timetable clearly came as a shock.

Unexpected Early Exit and New Beginnings

The breakfast hosts confirmed their early departure through a social media post titled '2nd last show stitch-up' shared on Thursday. Their final broadcast will now air this Friday, cutting short their remaining commitments by a fortnight.

Meanwhile, co-hosts Kip and Corey have already revealed their next career move - a Brisbane Broncos-themed podcast with NRL legend Sam Thaiday. 'The Unofficial Broncos Podcast with Sammy, Oatsey and Kip' is scheduled to launch in February 2026, providing a new platform for the recently unemployed presenters.

Kip Wightman addressed their sudden departure with characteristic humour, stating: 'Look, when the radio station said "We're making changes" we thought that meant new chairs. Turns out the "changes" were us leaving. So yeah, podcasting felt like a natural step down.' Corey Oates added his self-deprecating perspective, joking that he joined the podcast so Kip wouldn't 'suffer alone' after losing their radio jobs.

Controversial Replacement and Industry Backlash

The trio's replacement - shock jock Craig 'Lowie' Low - has already raised eyebrows within the industry. Insiders have criticised the appointment, with one source telling the Courier Mail that Low represented a 'poor man's Kyle Sandilands'.

The anonymous insider expressed disappointment about the team's replacement, stating: 'I feel so bad that the team is going to be replaced with someone like that. It just makes me sick.' This criticism highlights the controversial nature of the programming change at the Brisbane station.

ARN, the network behind KIIS FM, released a statement confirming the show's final broadcast would air on December 12 and praising the hosts for their 'hard work, creativity and commitment to the Brisbane audience.' The statement added that their 'contribution has been significant and will be celebrated in the weeks ahead.'

The departure marks another significant change for Corey Oates, who only joined the breakfast show months ago after retiring from the NRL last year following his career with the Brisbane Broncos.
