Actress Tara Reid has forcefully reiterated her belief that she was drugged at a hotel bar, directly contradicting a police statement which found no evidence of drink tampering in surveillance footage.
Police Investigation Finds No Evidence of Tampering
The incident occurred on the Saturday before Thanksgiving at the DoubleTree hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. Disturbing footage later emerged showing the 50-year-old American Pie and Sharknado star slumped over in a wheelchair at the hotel bar. She was subsequently rushed to hospital and filed a police report alleging her wine had been spiked after she left it unattended.
However, Rosemont Police delivered a statement to the Daily Mail on Wednesday which cast doubt on her account. The police confirmed that video surveillance showed Reid at the bar, but stated that 'at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink.' They added that a bartender had covered her drink when she left the bar, which they described as standard practice.
The police further noted there is currently no evidence a criminal act was committed and they are not investigating anyone. They are awaiting hospital records to determine what specific chemical testing, if any, Reid underwent.
Reid's Emotional Rebuttal and Health Impact
Reid responded immediately to the police findings, telling the Daily Mail: 'Bottom line is no one ends up in the hospital incapacitated for over 8 hours after a drink.' She described the experience as terrifying, stating the last thing she remembered was having one drink before waking up in hospital the next day with no memory of the intervening events.
'This has been a horrifying experience for me that is severely affecting my mental health,' Reid insisted. 'I cannot sleep over this. It’s a very scary feeling not knowing what happened to me. I believe I was drugged. Something happened to me.'
Conflicting Accounts from a YouTuber
The situation grew more complex when YouTuber Sean P came forward with his version of events. He claimed he met Reid at the bar that night, they chatted, exchanged contacts, and went outside for a cigarette. Upon returning, Sean P alleged Reid asked him to retrieve her room key from her purse, where he claims he saw pills inside. He says Reid then screamed for security, though both later said there was no issue.
Sean P alleges that as they headed outside again, Reid collapsed. The following day, he says he sent her videos of the incident to make her aware of what happened, which Reid interpreted in her police report as an attempted extortion. Sean P adamantly denies Reid's subsequent accusation that he slipped a 'roofie' into her drink.
Reid's representative has since told TMZ that the actress never specifically named Sean P as the person who spiked her drink and labelled his account as 'inaccurate.'
In her official incident report, Reid recounted meeting Sean P, going for a cigarette, and returning to find a napkin over her drink. Her memory then goes blank until waking in hospital over eight hours later. She stated she is willing to prosecute.
The case remains at an impasse, with Reid's personal trauma and conviction set against official findings that so far reveal no criminal act.
