Millie Bobby Brown has publicly addressed her current working relationship with her Stranger Things co-star David Harbour, following the revelation that she filed a formal bullying complaint against him. The actress, 21, and Harbour, 50, were the centre of attention at the Los Angeles premiere on November 6, where they engaged in a very public and over-the-top comedy act for photographers.
A Public Display of Unity
This display came just days after it was reported that Brown had submitted what sources described as 'pages and pages of accusations' against Harbour ahead of filming for the sci-fi show's final season. A week later, Harbour's absence from the London premiere was notably conspicuous. Despite the serious nature of the allegations, which did not include any claims of sexual impropriety, Brown insists in a new interview that the pair are on good terms and are wholly focused on their hit series.
'We love this show with everything, and we value our friendship more than anything,' Brown told the Hollywood Reporter. When questioned about the importance of their public show of unity after the filing became news, she added, 'We've been doing that for the last 10 years. I mean, we have always been united in that.' The outcome of the internal investigation into her complaint remains unknown.
On-Screen Reunion Amidst Off-Screen Drama
David Harbour has been a core cast member since Stranger Things first aired in 2016, playing the beloved Sheriff Jim Hopper. In the series, his character becomes the adoptive father to Brown's supernaturally gifted Eleven. The final season, which began streaming its first four episodes on November 26, sees their characters reunited after being separated for much of the previous season.
Brown reflected on this dynamic, calling it 'really exciting'. She said, 'It was quite nostalgic because it reminded me so much of season two and three, where we're both kind of butting heads and she's growing up, she's trying to find her own voice and he's trying to parent, and that dynamic definitely comes back into play once again.' She expressed enthusiasm for fans to see their iconic partnership back on screen.
Production Fallout and Release Strategy
As a direct result of Millie's complaint, she was accompanied by a personal representative on set throughout the filming of the final season. Representatives for Netflix, Brown, and the Duffer Brothers have declined to comment, while Harbour's team did not respond.
In a departure from its typical model, Netflix is releasing the final season in batches. The first four episodes are available now, with a second batch of three episodes scheduled for release on Christmas Day. A feature-length finale will then be released simultaneously in cinemas and on the streaming service, marking a significant shift in strategy for the platform.
