Love Island's Jack Fincham Accused of Dodging Court by Entering Rehab
Jack Fincham Accused of Dodging Court via Rehab Stay

Love Island Star Jack Fincham Faces 'Deliberate Avoidance' Allegations Over Missed Court Date

Jack Fincham, the 34-year-old winner of Love Island, has been accused of making a 'deliberate attempt to avoid justice' after he failed to appear at a court hearing because he is currently in a rehabilitation centre. Fincham was summoned to Medway Magistrates' Court in Kent after neglecting to complete three shifts of unpaid work, which were mandated as part of the conditions of a suspended sentence.

Rehab Stay Raises Suspicion in Legal Proceedings

The court heard that Fincham is undergoing a two-month stay at Rainford Hall rehabilitation centre in Merseyside, leading to his absence. He had provided an email from the 'detox clinic' requesting the hearing be rescheduled to after his discharge on March 23. However, prosecuting barrister Martin Smith expressed doubts about the legitimacy of this rehab stay, suggesting it could be seen as an intentional effort to evade legal responsibilities. Despite these concerns, the hearing was adjourned to April 7.

Fincham sent a letter to the court claiming he had attempted multiple times to contact both the court and his probation officer but was unsuccessful. Authorities are now investigating the date he entered rehab to determine if it was before or after he was served his summons on November 28 last year, which could impact the case's outcome.

Background of Legal Troubles and Previous Offences

Fincham's legal issues stem from a 2024 incident where he received an 18-month suspended sentence for driving under the influence of cocaine, speeding, and using false number plates. In March 2025, this sentence was extended by three months due to dangerous dog offences. The original charges arose from an event on August 26, 2023, when police stopped him driving on the hard shoulder of the A2 in Dartford, Kent.

Although he passed a breath test, a drugs wipe indicated cocaine use. Reports revealed Fincham could not afford insurance and had a friend clone his number plate to match his white BMW, concealing his lack of coverage. He admitted to multiple offences, including driving without insurance and fraudulently using a registration, resulting in a reduced 12-week suspended sentence after an early admission.

Dangerous Dog Incidents and Additional Sentencing

In January 2025, Fincham faced further legal action when he was initially sentenced to six weeks in jail for dangerous dog offences involving his black Cane Corso. After an appeal, this was changed to an extension of his suspended sentence by three months. The dog was involved in two separate attacks: one injuring runner Robert Sudell and another in June 2024 where a woman's calf was grabbed, though no injury was reported.

Fincham has pleaded guilty to these charges, adding to his growing list of legal entanglements. The Daily Mail has reached out to his representatives for comment, but no response has been provided at this time. As the case continues, the court's scrutiny of his rehab timing and motives remains a focal point, highlighting the complexities of celebrity justice and rehabilitation claims.
