Newcastle night spot Tup Tup Palace is set to host an 80s themed daytime party on Saturday, November 7, opening its doors far earlier than usual and promising a 'full 80s makeover' of the venue for the one-off event.
The club, which has been a fixture in the city centre for nearly 20 years, will turn the clock back to the decade of leg warmers, Band Aid and Dirty Dancing for a single afternoon. The Footloose event is scheduled to run from 2pm to 7pm.
Venue transformation and event details
Since opening in 2007, Tup Tup has welcomed a host of famous faces, including rappers Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Kanye West, music icons Cheryl and Ed Sheeran, the Geordie Shore cast, and Olympic champion Mo Farah, who partied there after the Great North Run in 2017.
In the last year, the venue has hosted a Baby Rave at the end of May and two successful Reunion events, which saw old school hip hop and R&B anthems played to revellers including former Newcastle United midfielder Nobby Solano.
Tickets and what to expect
A teaser for the event reads: 'This November, expect nothing but iconic hooks and major nostalgia. This is the decade of Walkmans, big hair and bigger choruses, brought back for one Saturday afternoon.'
Tickets are already selling quickly, with some still available for as little as £7.50. Ticket holders are promised 'Classic 80s sound built for singalongs, throwback moments with iconic choruses and a full 80s makeover for the venue.'
