Madonna, 67, Rocks Provocative Corset at Confessions II Launch Party
Madonna Rocks Corset at Confessions II Launch Party

Madonna suggested age really is just a number as she let her hair down while celebrating the imminent release of her new LP on Tuesday evening. The pioneering pop legend claimed the spotlight while hosting a launch party for Confessions II, her upcoming fifteenth studio album, at West Hollywood venue The Abbey.

But penance was the last thing on her mind as she took control of the DJ booth, where partygoers watched the 67-year-old singer almost spill out of her tight-fitting outfit. Opting for a typically provocative look, Madonna caught the eye in a cleavage-boosting pink corset and fishnet tights while attending the celebratory event with her current boyfriend, Akeen Morris, 29.

Gyrating alongside DJ Stuart Price, the singer proved she has lost none of her energy as they partied into the early hours. The new album is the continuation of the iconic counterpart Confessions on a Dance Floor and will be her first since the 2019 offering, Madame X.

Album Announcement and Coachella Performance

Earlier this year, she got fans excited by revealing she was ready to release the new project. 'My Valentine's Day gift to all my fans is to let you know I'm putting my heart and soul into my new music and I can't wait to share it with you!' she told Instagram followers in February. She joked: 'Confessions Part 2. Just nobody tell Usher!' while including photos from a studio session set to her song Future Lovers.

Just last week, Madonna heralded her 'moment in history' with Sabrina Carpenter after facing calls to retire following their performance at Coachella. The pop legend joined Carpenter onstage at the music festival, held annually in California, for renditions of Like A Prayer and Vogue, enormous hits upon their release in 1989 and 1990, respectively. But Madonna, appearing onstage in a silk basque and stockings, performed to a surprisingly impartial crowd, with many seemingly unfamiliar with her famous lyrics.

Audience footage circulating online captured a show lacking in atmosphere, with only a handful of fans singing to Like A Prayer, while most silently recorded Madonna's surprise cameo on their phones. Despite the muted response, she celebrated her performance with Carpenter, 26, by sharing a series of backstage shots alongside photos taken during their brief duet. Captioning the post, Madonna wrote: 'Still flying high since Friday night at Coachella! Thank you to Sabrina and everyone who made it possible to bring Confessions II back to where it began - it was such a thrill! A moment in history, I will never forget! I FEEL SO FREE.'

Fan Support and Missing Costume

Madonna fans had previously rushed to defend the singer from backlash and calls to retire after she was criticised online for taking the stage in racy purple lingerie, branding them 'ageist and misogynistic.' One fan wrote on X: 'Madonna is doing great.. only ageist, misogynist, insecure people who have issues with women of a certain age, still doing what they want in life, are bothered... if you don't like her, just look away, don't stream her songs, don't buy her concert tickets. She is doing OK without you.' A second added: 'Madonna is an icon, a legend, a superstar. She looks amazing, her performance is amazing, she can keep up with a 25-year-old performer.' Elsewhere, a third posted: 'Thought I'd check in on X but all people are doing is tearing down Madonna. Leave the Queen alone!!! She's earned the right to live her life as she wants to.' While another commented: 'I mean, she still is selling out shows, so not everyone thinks she should retire. I thought she did amazing. I can only hope to look that good at 67. Legends are legends until they die. No Madonna fans think she should retire lol.'

Madonna made her entrance towards the end of Carpenter's Coachella set, 20 years after her own 2006 performance, which was a historic success. She has since offered a reward for the return of her Coachella costume after it went missing following her surprise appearance at the event. Several vintage clothes vanished after the singer performed Vogue and Like A Prayer, as well as a new song, alongside headliner Carpenter. 'I discovered that the vintage pieces that I wore went missing,' Madonna, who has 56.2 million social media followers, wrote in a recent Instagram post. 'Jacket, corset, dress and all other garments. These aren't just clothes, they are part of my history. Other archival items from the same era went missing as well.' The pop icon added: 'I'm hoping and praying that some kind soul will find these items and reach out to my team at infomaverick2026@gmail.com. I'm offering a reward for their safe return. Thank you with all my heart.' Madonna had reworn the purple leather Gucci bomber jacket and matching knee-high boots from her 2005 MTV European Music Awards outfit.
