Katseye has postponed three US tour shows after band member Megan Skiendiel suffered a concussion while on the road. The affected dates were in Detroit, Chicago, and Minneapolis.
Megan Skiendiel's concussion announcement
In an Instagram Story, Megan Skiendiel told fans: "Hi EYEKONS, I am so sorry that our Detroit, Chicago, and Minneapolis shows have been postponed." She added: "I currently have a concussion, and am doing everything I possibly can to recover from it so I can be on stage for you all again."
She revealed that doctors had "strongly advised" her not to return to the stage early, despite her hope to perform with bandmates Daniela Avanzini, Yoonchae, and Lara Raj. Megan concluded: "I love you all so much, I deeply appreciate your understanding and I am devastated to have to do this. I cannot wait to make it up to you eyekons, and give you the show you deserve."
Official statement and fan reactions
The band's official Instagram page confirmed the postponements. Their statement read: "The label has made the decision to postpone our shows in Chicago and Minneapolis as Megan is recovering from a concussion." It continued: "We are incredibly sorry to disappoint our fans. We know how much you've been looking forward to these shows, and that many of you have traveled long distances to be there. We don't take that lightly and we're truly sorry for the disappointment."
The statement added: "We'll announce the rescheduled dates as soon as possible, so please hold on to your tickets. We can't wait to see you in both cities again soon. Thank you for your continued love, support and understanding."
Some fans expressed frustration over the last-minute cancellations. One user commented: "Cancelling 30 minutes before start is ridiculous btw." Another wrote: "Wife and kids 1st concert. Drove all the way out to see y'all and cancelled last minute. Ridiculous." Others defended the band, with one user saying: "Before they're artists they're human beings — everyone leave my girls alone Everyone's always saying they need a break, but when they cancel a show due to illness suddenly they're villains? what more do you people want from them truly."
Rescheduled dates have not yet been announced, and fans have been asked to hold on to their tickets.
